                  Bard Announces PHEAA Deadlines

   Students seeking higher education assistance grants for the 2001-02 academic year have until May 1 to apply, Rep. Ellen Bard said today. 

  May 1st is the deadline for filing applications for all students seeking to renew their state grant aid regardless of their  program of study and for all other applicants for bachelor's degree programs, including persons enrolling in college transfer programs at two year community or junior colleges.

Aug. 1  is the application filing deadline for all students seeking state grant aid for the first time who plan to enroll in business or trade schools, hospital schools of nursing or two year non-transferable programs at junior colleges    State grants are provided to qualified Pennsylvania applicants through the Pennsylvania Higer Education Assistance Agency ( PHEAA) and do not have to be repaid.  Students must complete and submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid to be considered for a state grant.
