Bard Announces $10,000 Grant
for Visiting Nurses Association Community Services

Visiting Nurses Association-Community Services has received a $10,000 state grant it applied for with the assistance of Montgomery County lawmaker Rep. Ellen M. Bard (R-153).

The association will use the money, provided by the Department of Community and Economic and Development, to support a pilot project within Abington Township, Montgomery County, to help senior citizens with seriously deferred home and property maintenance.

A team of concerned township representatives, service organizations and citizens will be established to work with citizens needing help to identify and correct home and property maintenance problems, particularly those that affect the health and safety of senior citizens and their neighbors. -

Abington Township residents in need of such help will be identified and accepted for consideration through self-call, neighbor call, service provider call or township inquiry.

“I am pleased that the project was approved fur funding,” Bard said. “This project will help a significant number of Abington residents improve their living conditions.”

Bard noted that, since 1995, the department has distributed more than $760,000 in grants and loans for community and economic development in her district
