Introduction &

Acknowledgments

This 1999, edition provides a listing of important resources available to residents of the 153rd Pennsylvania State House District. It is intended that the listing will be updated annually. If you know of any additional activities, programs, or other resources which would be of value to a large proportion of local residents, please call my office with the details. Information regarding changes to existing listings would also be greatly appreciated. The goal of The Resource Book is to provide wide accessibility to the many valuable opportunities available to area residents.

Inclusion in The Resource Book in no way confers endorsement on the products or services offered. Residents must carefully evaluate each resource and its applicability to individual needs.

I would like to acknowledge the prodigious amount of work which has been accomplished by a number of dedicated people. Their efforts have turned The Resource Book into reality.

First and foremost, thanks must go to Rita Flynn, who picked up the project during her six week internship in my local legislative office. Rita's diligence, enthusiasm, and commitment to following through on the project even after her internship ended has enabled the publication of this book.

Heartfelt thanks are due to two volunteers who contributed their expertise and countless hours. Irene Peiffer contacted organizations to double check the accuracy of the listing. Linda O’Neill provided additional information and review concerning athletic resources.

Additionally, extensive effort towards the finished product was contributed by Peggy Myers, Keith Darrow, and Dawn Biederman.

My deep appreciation goes to all of the above mentioned as well as to those who took the time and effort to provide information to us.
