Bard’s Legislative Breakfast to Focus on Returning Retirees to the Workforce Lawmaker
urges business representatives, retirees to attend

ABINGTQN—Montgomery County lawmaker Rep. Ellen Bard (P.453), in collaboration with area chambers of commerce, will devote her next legislative breakfast to a forum on returning retirees to the workforce.

The event is scheduled for Friday, April 14, at the Willow Grove VFW. Although the breakfast is free, registration is required.

Bard said scheduled speakers at the breakfast include: Edward 3. Keenan, executive director, Montgomery County Department of Aging and Adult Services; the Social Security Administration’s Mark Gerhart Nanette Carney, chief executive officer. CARNEY Group; and Claudia Timbo, president, Procall Teleservices.

“Longer life spans, coupled with escalating property taxes and health care costs, require many retirees to supplement their retirement benefits with additional income,” Bard said. “Many employers recognize that seniors are a valuable source of labor.

“We need, then, to create in the public forum a discussion about fostering employment opportunities for retirees. I urge area retirees and business representatives interested in these important matters to attend.”

Business groups cosponsoring the breakfast include: the Greater Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce; the Greater Glenside Chamber of Commerce; the Rockledge/Fox Chase Business Association; the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce; and the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.

To register for the breakfast or receive more information, contact Rep Bard’s district office at 1175 Old York Road, Abington. The number is (215) 881-BARD.
