Ellen, following ten years
in the state legislature, why did you you decide to produce and host a TV
show?
 |
In many ways, this is a continuation of what I
was doing as a State Representative. Each month, I prepared a
half-hour televised “legislative report” featuring issues and happenings
of importance to the residents of my district. Bard Means BusinessTM
continues my interest in helping to move Pennsylvania forward.
There are so many innovative new products and and companies that are
offering choices and options that can make a difference to people.
Bard Means Business TM offers the opportunity to spotlight the fact that
there are a lot of exciting things happening in our part of the world.

Tell us about some of the
new products and companies that you’ve featured on Bard Means BusinessTM
?
 |
My guests have represented big companies like
Rohm and Haas Company and Certainteed Corporation as well as smaller
companies like BioRexis and the White Dog Café. Some of the guests
are familiar, like Jim Greenwood the former Congressman from Bucks
County who is now President and CEO of the Biotechnology Industry
Organization (BIO) and some of the guests are not people that are often
in the news or on TV. We’ve had guests from mid-state companies
like biodiesel dealer Worley and Obetz and we’ve had guests who are more
local, like the award winning cleaning products manufacturer Sun and
Earth who is based in Norristown and whose products are carried in
Genuardis, Clemens, Acme, Whole Foods and some of the other major
grocery stores in the state. What all these companies have in
common, though, is a story to tell to consumers about products and job
opportunities that they are offering that can make a difference in every
day life.

Obviously, you’re excited
about the show. What do you like best about doing the show?
 |
I enjoy finding out about new and interesting
things and being able to communicate that to others. It’s exciting to
learn about these companies and how they are making a difference in
people’s lives. People who create jobs that sustain families are
helping in so many ways. I’ve been a small businessperson myself
in the past and I know the challenges of meeting a payroll and creating
a successful business. And knowing how important a healthy
business environment is to the future of the state of Pennsylvania, it’s
a pleasure to be able to spotlight companies that are helping to keep
our Commonwealth healthy and prosperous.
